Steps to Fix Netflix Error Code NW-3-6

To fix the problem, follow the steps for your device.

Check the Internet

  • First, start troubleshooting the error by checking your internet connection. Make sure your WiFi or internet connection has stable and sufficient bandwidth for Netflix streaming.

Restart your modem/router to fix Netflix Error NW-3-6

  • If it’s not an internet connection issue, check your router or modem and try restarting it. To do this, follow the steps below.
    • Turn off your router/modem and unplug it from the power source.
    • Leave it unplugged for about 40 seconds.
    • Reconnect your router/modem and power it ON.
    • Wait until it completely restarts and connects to the internet. Check if the Netflix Error NW-3-6 is removed.

Update software/firmware

  • To ensure compatibility with the Netflix app, make sure your streaming device is up to date with the latest firmware or software.
  • Check your settings for available updates on your smart TV or streaming device.
  • Install updates when they become available.

Disable VPN/Proxy

  • If you’re using a virtual private network (VPN), try turning it off. Using a VPN can prevent Netflix from recognizing your region, and regional content restrictions can trigger geofencing. Turn off your VPN and Netflix may work again.

Clear cache data

  • Whether you use Roku or a smart TV, a simple restart will clear your streaming device’s cache and allow you to access Netflix again.
  • Clearing the cache of the Netflix app can fix Netflix Error NW-3-6 to some extent.

Verify your DNS Settings

  • This is especially important if you’re trying to stream from a game console. If your DNS server settings are incorrect, you won’t be able to connect to the Internet and stream entertainment.
  • Even if you don’t use a gaming system, you may need to change your router’s DNS servers.
  • For PlayStation: Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings > Custom and select Wired or Wi-Fi. Then use the following settings:
    • IP Address: Automatic
    • DHCP hostname: Do Not Set
    • DNS: Automatic
    • MTU: Automatic
    • Proxy Server: Do Not Use
  • On Xbox: Go to Settings > System Settings > Network Settings > Network > Configure Network. Next, go to DNS Settings and select Automatic. Once completed, you will need to restart your Xbox to fix Netflix Error NW-3-6
