Activate Trakt on Kodi, Plex and Other Media Centers

Trakt is a platform that handles a variety of things, but its primary function is to keep track of the TV series and movies you watch. It connects with media players (such as Kodi) to allow scrobbling, thus everything is automated. The term “scrobbling” refers to keeping track of what you’re observing. This program monitors your viewing habits and recommends new content based on your browsing history. Trakt, on the other hand, does more than just keep track of records. It also allows you to connect with folks from all around the world who have similar interests.

Trakt allows you make a watchlist of all the content you wish to see in addition to keeping track of what you have previously watched. You may add favorites to the extensions, of course, but when the Kodi Trakt addon is activated, all of the addons have automatic access to your single watchlist. Put differently, you don’t have to keep track of the list for every addon separately.

Media center plugins, apps, and add-ons require device authentication to connect to and sync with Trakt. This allows you to link your Trakt.tv account without requiring you to type in your password or username.

First, you’ll need to create an account on Trakt.tv. All of the data you have synchronized with Kodi and other apps will be saved in your account. The procedures for creating an account are as follows.

Access www.trakt.tv from any computer or mobile browser.
When the landing page loads, select the Join Trakt link.
Next, enter your email address, then select a username and password.
After reviewing the terms and privacy, check the box next to “I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.”
To proceed, click the Join Trakt button below. You can also sign up using your social network accounts, such as Apple, Facebook, or Google.
On the next screen, provide your personal information such as Display Name, Location, Gender, and Date of Birth. Click the Next Step button.
Then, choose your favorite streaming service.
Click on Next Step.
The next step is to select your preferred genres from the list. Once you’re finished, click Next Step.
On the following page, you could list the movies and TV shows you’ve seen (or are now watching). You may decide not to include anything at all. Click Next Step again.
If you wish to share your activity on social media, click the Connect button next to the appropriate platform. If you don’t like sharing your activity, don’t use any social media platforms. Instead, click Next Step one again.
If you wish to get push notifications, choose one of the available choices. To proceed, click the Continue to Dashboard button.
You’ve successfully signed up for Trakt services and established an account.

Activate Trakt TV on Kodi

The steps below will lead you through downloading and installing the Trakt plugin from within Kodi.

Open Kodi and ensure that you are on the Kodi home screen.
Next, select the Search icon in the upper left.
Then, select Search Add-ons.
Now, type Trakt.tv into the search bar, and then press enter or OK.
After that, select Script—Trakt from the search result and then select Install to download and install Trakt Add-on on your Kodi.
Wait for the “Add-on enabled” notification in the upper right.
After installing the plugin, it should display instructions on how to connect your Trakt.tv account. If you don’t see this, pick Configure on the Trakt.tv add-on information box, then select How Do I Authorize?
Kodi will then supply you with an 8-digit Trakt authorization code. Copy or write down this code.
After receiving the code, navigate to trakt.tv/activate from your laptop, desktop, or mobile device.
Next, login in to your Trakt.tv account with your registered email address and password.
Finally, input the activation code shown on the Kodi screen and click the CONTINUE option.
Click YES to let Trakt for Kodi access your Trakt.tv account.
Return to Kodi once you’ve seen the success notification.

Activate Trakt on Plex

The steps below will lead you through setting up Trakt and Plex to scrobble and rate what you’re watching.

Go to the Plex Scrobbler Settings page.
Sign in to your Plex Media Server and navigate to the Webhooks settings.
Copy the URL (click the red box in the Plex Scrobbler settings).
Back in Plex Media Server, select Add Webhook, enter the URL, and click Save Changes.
Still in your Plex Media Server settings, we need to ensure that a couple notification options are activated. Go to General and ensure that Push Notifications are enabled.
Go to Network and ensure that Webhooks are enabled.
After enabling the Plex Scrobbler, go through your settings and select the actions you wish to store to your Trakt profile. You’ll most likely want to keep everything enabled, but that’s up to you.

Activate Trakt TV on Fire Stick

Trakt is compatible with a wide range of FireStick applications. You can trace your watch history on multiple devices.

Launch the FireStick app and select the menu button (top-left corner).
Select Settings from the dropdown.
Click Account (some apps may not require you to click Account and will display the options straight in the Settings box).
Scroll down to the Trakt section.
Next, click on Login to Trakt TV.
A popup displays, displaying the authorization code. Note down this code.
Open a web browser on your computer or mobile device and navigate to trakt.tv/activate.
Enter the code you’ve noted.
Once your Trakt account has been successfully authorized, you will see your account information (username and name) on the app screen.

Activate Trakt TV on Streaming Apps

While Kodi is the most popular streaming app for multiple devices, there are other options. With these streaming apps, you won’t have to install any third-party add-ons and can effortlessly browse thousands of titles.

Open the streaming app and select Settings.
Next, navigate to Accounts and select Trakt.
Now, click Add.
Instructions and an 8 digit authorization code should be displayed. Write down or remember the provided code.
After obtaining the code, go to trakt.tv/activate on another device.
Then, enter the supplied authorization code into the given box, and click Continue.
Finally, click Yes.
You will then experience device-connected messages.
Return to your streaming app, and you will notice the Account added notification.

How Do You Activate Trakt TV and Connect It to Your Media Center?

You must have a Trakt.tv account. If you don’t already have an account on Trakt.tv, create one.
Open the plugin, app, or add-on settings and locate the authentication option.
Instructions and an eight-digit code should be shown.
After getting the code, go to trakt.tv/activate on your computer, phone, or tablet.
Enter the eight-digit code (PIN) displayed on your device. (If you’re not logged in, it will ask you to do so first.)
Allow access to the media center plugin, app, or add-on that you are installing.
Return to your media center, app, or add-on, and your Trakt.tv account will now be connected!
